The Leonard Fund

Mudders will never complain about free food. They also love HMC because professors are accessible, both inside and outside of the classroom. Clearly, Mr. and Mrs. Mark G. Leonard P ’93 were onto something when they established the Leonard Fund, a pool of money dedicated to students who want to eat food with their professors.

This week, members of Project Decode, our first-generation student organization, had lunch with professor Jae Hur, Associate Professor of Biology and first-gen college graduate.

Having the chance to hang out with a professor outside of class comes with many perks. It encourages and allows students to network, while also allowing for deeper connections between professors and students.  At Mudd, some of the most interesting conversations that you will have with your professors will not be during a structured lecture, but rather after classes, during office hours, or over a meal. The Leonard Fund is just one way to connect.
