{"id":6933,"date":"2018-10-01T14:40:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T21:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about-hmc\/?p=6933"},"modified":"2024-04-01T16:02:38","modified_gmt":"2024-04-01T23:02:38","slug":"harvey-mudd-no-1-for-mid-career-salaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about\/2018\/10\/01\/harvey-mudd-no-1-for-mid-career-salaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Harvey Mudd No. 1 for Mid-Career Salaries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Harvey Mudd College ranked No. 1 for the second year in a row for highest mid-career salaries among U.S. college and university graduates with a bachelor\u2019s degree only, according to PayScale\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.payscale.com\/college-salary-report\">2018\u20132019 College Salary Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ranking is based on salaries of alumni who pursued careers with a bachelor\u2019s degree as their final degree. \u201cMid-career\u201d is defined as 10 or more years of experience in a field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harvey Mudd topped the list with a median mid-career salary of $157,400. Coming in second was MIT, followed by the U.S. Naval Academy, Stanford and Caltech respectively. Over the past six years, Harvey Mudd has held the No. 1 spot four times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHarvey Mudd\u2019s curriculum was developed not to help graduates earn high salaries but to prepare them to become problem-solvers able to tackle the world\u2019s challenges,\u201d said Vice President for Admission and Financial Aid Thyra Briggs. \u201cWe provide a rigorous math and science education in a broader liberal arts context, which gives our students not only the skills and knowledge to solve demanding technical problems, but also the ability to communicate clearly, work in teams and think across disciplines. This combination of traits may distinguish our students from other high-level math and science graduates and make them attractive to employers and graduate schools.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In PayScale\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.payscale.com\/college-roi\/\">2018 College ROI Report,<\/a>&nbsp;a separate report published each spring, Harvey Mudd ranked No. 6 for overall college return on investment.
