At Harvey Mudd College, faculty and students aren’t the only ones engaging in experiential learning. Human Resources Associate Chi Herrington was selected for the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2018–2019 Wildfire program, a 12-month immersive leadership experience for early career higher education HR professionals.
One of 12 people selected from over 150 candidates, Herrington is the only member from the West Coast.
Herrington will have the opportunity to create a development plan to support a Wildfire Project, specific to her role at Harvey Mudd, that will be implemented by June 30, 2019. She will also attend two CUPA-HR learning events as well as gain leadership experience by engaging in CUPA-HR at the national and regional levels.
“I look forward to networking with other HR professionals in higher education and shadowing an HR leader at another campus to get a different perspective on HR operations,” Herrington says, noting that she hopes to be paired with someone from a large university.
Herrington is excited to begin the program, which starts in July. “My goal is to be a well-rounded human resources professional,” she says.
