HMC
Priority Numbers

Updated March 25, 2009

Priority Numbers for Room Draw 2009 are:

  • The Excel spreadsheet has 5 worksheets: all, only seniors, only juniors, only sophomores, and other (waitlist, split spaces, 5C exchange)
  • In the "all" worksheet, the waitlist for fall 2009 is located at the very bottom
  • Separated by the class you will be in during 2009-2010, starting with "rising" seniors
  • Listed by priority number on the left from lowest to highest (best to worst) and alphabetically by last name on the right

Notes about the priority numbers file:

  • Students pre-placed for room draw are also listed (proctors, proctor "pulls", and those granted exceptions through DAC petitions). Because some may still reject the DAC offer and enter draw, they received a priority number.
  • Some pre-placements have not been finalized and are listed using dorm abbreviations with an "s" (single) or "d" (double). The file will be updated when those rooms are confirmed.
  • Students added to the list after the original draw have random numbers individually drawn by class using random.org. These are changed and listed as ".5" priority numbers.
  • Students with class changes after the original number draw will preserve their original draw number and get added to the new class, with a ".5" after their number.
  • Students who submitted their housing deposits late were assigned the worst/last number for their class.
  • Students who had petitions approved but have not yet deposited are currrently on the waitlist. They must deposit prior to March 27 in order to have the DAC decision affirmed. Otherwise, they remain on the waitlist (not pullable) until after room draw.

More room draw numbers:

  • There are 538 spaces available for upperclass students on campus
  • 745 maximum occupancy minus 207 reserved for incoming students (frosh, transfers, and French exchange students)
  • 538 spaces available include all Atwood L's tripled and all designated Case lounges as quads, except for the one by the laundry room which is a triple
  • 40 spaces are already taken by pre-placed students (see updated floor charts)
  • There are 168  pulling as rising seniors, 184 as juniors, and 206 as sophomores, plus 3 on the waitlist = 561 upperclass students
  • 7 students may be studying abroad in the fall
  • There will be students who will not get a room during draw. They will be go on the waitlist and be placed later according to DAC established priority catergories. There is also now a realy possibility that some students may need to live off campus in the fall. We have considered this scenario and are preparing accordingly.
  • A number of rooms may become available between the end of draw and opening, from rooms not needed for frosh and from students going on leaves or abroad.

Contact me, Guy Gerbick at guy_gerbick@hmc.edu or x18301 if you:

  • Believe you have not been placed in the proper class - Remember, you are only allowed to draw as a rising senior once
  • Cannot find your name on the list (and have submitted a housing deposit)
  • Have been pre-placed in a different room than expected
  • Want to know more about or add yourself to the waitlist
  • Have questions about priority numbers or room draw in general
  • See any other mistake on this page or in the file

Anyone who wants to withdraw from room draw and get his/her $150 housing deposit back must do so through Patricia Wang or Nancy Chudy in Student Accounts. You can get your deposit back up to the point that you move into a room.
