5-College Living Exchange Agreement 2009-2010

Eligibility

1. Participating students must have lived in residence at least one year at his/her home campus.
2. Exchanges must be between students of the same sex and must be one-for-one exchanges. Women only, of course, are allowed to exchange to Scripps.
3. Participating students must complete the “5-College Living Exchange Form” below with all the appropriate signatures.
4. All suitemates and/or roommates must agree on the acceptability of the individual who will be filling the space in their room/suite.

Regulations on Length of Exchange
Participating students must agree to reside at the exchange college for the entire academic year. If a student is unable to live on the host institution’s campus (by choice, for conduct reasons, etc.), both students are expected to move back to their home institutions unless a replacement person can be found.

Finances

1. All billing is generated by the student’s home institution.
2. Each student pays the cost of his/her home institution’s room and board.
3. Each student is responsible for paying any damages/fees/fines assessed to him/her by the host institution.

Student Conduct
Participating students must sign the host institution’s housing agreement. They are expected to abide by both the policies and procedures of the home and host institution. Any alleged violation of either institution’s policies and procedures will be adjudicated by the student’s home institution. The home institution may consult with the host institution to determine appropriate sanctions. The home institution remains responsible for overseeing completion of the sanctions.

Student ID
Participating students must retain their home institution ID which they will use for entry into the host institution’s residence halls.

Parking
The host institution reserves the right to define parking privileges and conditions.

Meal Plan
Participating students must be on the home institution’s meal plan.

Procedure

1. A student wishing to live at another campus needs to sign up with the contact person of his/her home campus and indicate preferences. The student may then go to the contact person(s) of their targeted exchange campus to indicate their interest in an exchange. Contact persons are below.
2. Students may also write to listserves at their target campus. At Scripps and Pitzer, use student-talk@scrippscollege.edu or student-talk@pitzer.edu. At Pomona, use the Digester, http://www.digester.pomona.edu/. At Harvey Mudd, use roomdraw-l@hmc.edu or the room draw Facebook group.
3. The student is expected to take responsibility for contacting potential exchange student(s), arrange to see the room(s), obtain any necessary approval from roommates/suitemates, complete the “5-College Living Exchange Form” and return the form to his/her home campus by 5:00PM on Friday, April 3, 2009.
