Hello world!

My name's Alexa and I'm excited to be proctor of South this year!   South is an awesome place to live and hang out, with comfy couches, and a swingin' hammock. Not only is South home to nice people, but also to XX unicycles, the only kitchen in the inner dorms, and the smell of fresh-baked cookies.

I'm an engineering major who likes hula-hooping, reading fantasy, and music (especially European pop music, country, and Enya).   I am also a fan of Chick-fil-a, tie-dye, crafts that have googly eyes, and camping.

I can't wait to meet you, so if you want to hang out (or just want a handful of the best candy on campus), drop by the South-West corner of the dorm.  Welcome to Mudd!

Mentors:

Miranda Parker

Hey y'all! I'm Miranda and I'll be one of your South mentors! I'm a sophomore, so I've only lived in South for a year, but I love it all the same!  We may be regarded as the quiet dorm, but we definitely know how to have fun.

I'm planning on being a Computational Chemist through an individual program of study.  Basically I love Chemistry and Computer Science and don't want to have to decide between them! I'm from good ol' Austin, Texas, even if most people tell me I don't have an accent.  Among my free time at Mudd, I enjoy ballroom dancing and running, both of which have avid clubs on the 5 Claremont Colleges campuses, so you should definitely check them out!  I am also a member of Science Bus, which visits local elementary schools and teaches 4th and 5th graders awesome science lessons.  Among all this, I am a tour guide, so you'll often see me around campus singing the joys of Mudd!  My random hobbies include speaking French, drawing, singing badly, having random dance parties, giving people greeting cards, and playing piano.

I'm in the fishbowl, so please come and find me if you need anything!  No matter how trivial it may seem, there is no topic I am not open to discussing, from low midterm grades to homesickness to whether the third law of thermodynamics is valid, and everything in between.  I can't wait to meet all of you this year, and welcome to Mudd!

Jeep Srisuknimit

Jeep Srisuknimit

Hello there! My name is Jeep and I will be one of the South mentors in 2011-2012. I am a [junior/senior] chemistry major from Bangkok, Thailand - where I had lived for eighteen years. I came to the States for a year before coming to Mudd. I learned to ride a unicycle in my freshman year and have started picking up random skills since then like juggling, hiking, longboarding, knitting, hashing, freelining, baking, and anything else my friends are kind enough to teach me. I would be glad to teach you anything I know and appreciate learning any weird skill you could teach me. I also really like to play board games, especially in South's lounge with a cup of good herbal tea. Grab me any time for a unicycle ride, a board game, a tea party, or just a good chat.

And if you are still wondering, yes, my name is exactly that of a particular car brand. Thai names are usually too long to speak of casually (Vee-ra-sak Sri-suk-ni-mit is how you pronounce mine) and so most Thais have a nick name. My dad named me so because he liked the Jeeps he saw in the U.S. camps during Vietnam war. So, again, I am Jeep. Nice to meet you!

Meep meep.
