Proctor:
Mira de Avila-Shin

Hey! My name is Mira De Avila-Shin and I'm going to be your Sontag Proctor for 2011-2012! Sontag is, without a doubt, the classiest and newest dorm on campus. We are a diverse community made up of suites, where each suite has a kitchen. We don't let kitchens define our dorm personality; though, I can't lie, they are a sweet bonus and many of us love cooking, or just eating. Random fact: we're the only dorm with an elevator that can take you half a floor! Also, the Sontag Mentors and I plan on baking goodies, throughout the year, so prepare to be stuffed!
Besides being a Proctor, I am an engineering major and for humanities, I concentrate in art. So the blue animal sculpture, which will probably be sitting outside proctor suite, is mine. I was born and raised in Oakland, California; so, "hella" is definitely part of my vocabulary. Some of the activities I love to do is longboarding, dancing around my suite/room to music blasting and playing rugby. I joined the Claremont Women's Rugby team, the Foxes, my junior year and fell in love with the sport. So if you have any interest in rugby or have no idea what it is but want to know, just let me know and I'll take you to a practice or a game! Or if you want to come and have a study break, just let me know and we can have a dance party in proctor suite!
I always leave my door open, so come and visit if you need to talk, take a break, dance, anything really! I'm hella excited to meet you all! 2011-2012 school year is going to be awesome!
Mentors:
Malous Kossarian

Hey! My name's Malous and I'll be mentor of Sontag, the newest and cleanest
of the dorms! Sontag living is suite based, where each suite of 4 or 5
shares a kitchen, so there's lots of cooking and baking going on in this
dorm. Sontag has a great lounge and lots of upperclassmen who can help
answer questions about life at Mudd, including myself, proctor Mira, and
Sontag's other mentor Garrett!
I am a chemistry major, although I spent
the majority of my time at Mudd going back and forth between math and chem,
and have taken a lot of math classes. If you ever feel like you need someone
to talk to about picking a major or taking fun classes out of your major,
I've got some experience with that. I plan on going to grad school after
leaving Mudd, hopefully on the West coast because I doubt I can handle the
cold anywhere else. I love being outside, whether it's working on homework
on the grass or playing a more organized sport. I've lived in Southern
California my whole life, so I tend to be very cold if its less than
75ºF. I grew up not too far from Claremont, so I love getting off campus
if you ever want to join me, or just ask for suggestions of places to go
visit.
I love doing lots of random things, so if you ever want
someone to try something new with, or just someone to talk to, my door is
always open! I also love baking, so I'll probably have treats most of the
time if you just want a quick pick-me-up!
Garrett Wong

Hi! I'm Garrett! I'm a Sontag mentor!
Sontag is the newest and classiest of the dorms, so if you have an extremely high standard of living and enjoy the finer things in life, such as (but not limited to) fondue, finger sandwiches, Mario Party, tea, and an overabundance of cookies, Sontag might be the right dorm for you!
I am (probably) a Mathematical and Computational Biology major, which is clearly the best because it has the most departments *and* the longest name. And that's why I picked it. (Not really. It's because I like biology and I like computer science and there is mathematics?)
I used to live in South Dakota. Yes, really! You should ask me about it some time. I used to have a pet chicken, and used to have lots of goats that did not like me as much as I didn't like them. Now I live here, where there's less cold and more people.
I like you, so you should come and hang out with me, and we can be best friends!
