Proctors:
Alix Chan

Now, this is the story all about how my life got flip-turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute and introduce this place - I'll tell you how I became the proctor of a dorm called Case.
I am Alix and I am SUPER EXCITED to be your Case 2nd floor proctor! As we like to say (well, scream out at the tops of our lungs), Case is the place! "Well, what kind of place?" might you be wondering? Well, in truth, Case can be any place you want it to be - rambunctious, tranquil, and everything in between - except for boring! This'll be my third year living among Case's rosy-hued bricks and mortar and I speak from experience. We throw some of the coolest parties on the 5Cs, but it's also always quiet enough to sleep and study. We've also got spacious rooms, two huge lounges, and lots of friendly people around!
I'm a joint Chemistry/Biology major with interests in synthetic and medicinal chemistry. Outside of academics, I love anything related to food (cooking and eating), taking extended naps (I refer to my couch as "the trap," because it's impossible to get out of), painting, board games, and narwhals! I'm also a DOS Muchacho, working for the Dean of Students office to plan fun activities, so I'll do my best to get you to take study breaks and do something fun every so often. Stop by my room sometime to talk or just get free candy - my door will always be open!
Mary Van Vleet

There once was small girl from Denver,
Who considered herself quite the nerd:
Wrote (bad) poetry with ease,
And thought math quite a breeze,
Though physics, I confess, went beyond her.
She calls herself Mary Van Vleet,
Her friends call her outgoing and sweet,
Prone to laugh and to smile,
Yet be thoughtful all the while,
She's compassionate, fiery, upbeat.
Get to know her, and you'll quickly spot,
Mary longs for adventures that won't be forgot:
She'll bike, hike, and ski,
Perform risky chemistry,
And find joy in chasing all that life's got.
On the other hand, though it's sometimes hard to see,
There's a contemplative part of Mary's personality,
That longs only to read,
And live life at half-speed,
Thinking of God, cello, Spanish, and Cummings' poetry.
As you may be aware, Mary's proctor of Case,
Which is by far the most awesome-est place,
Pink brick and teal trim,
And friendly people within,
Who wouldn't be happy in this zombie-proof space?
If that wasn't enough, Case Dorm boasts far more,
There's parties and sing-a-longs: come see what's in store!
They win water-polo together,
Roast s'mores in good weather,
And eat stir-fry for ThurFri on the courtyard floor.
If you venture to Case, swing by any time
You'll meet Mary or Alix, her partner-in-crime,
They can't wait to meet you,
Be friendly, and greet you
And it's said their proctor candy is sublime.
Mentors:
Jonathan Chai

Hi Everyone!
My name is Johnathan Chai but I'm commonly called J-Chai on
campus. I'll be the Case mentor in upper left L. My hometown is San Jose, CA. I
am an engineering major who is also taking computer science classes on the side.
I can speak both Mandarin and Japanese. I, along with a few of the other Case
mentors, have been involved in FIRST Robotics since high school. Did you know
that we hosted a scrimmage in our gym and mentored a rookie team that won the LA
regional competition this year?
Lilian de Greef

Greetings! I'll be mentoring in Case - the awesome fortress-shaped, pink dorm.
As the only dorm with hallways, it's super easy to keep our room doors open any
time of the year. So pop in and say hello - my door will open whenever I'm home!
That is, unless I'm sleeping or taking advantage of Case's neat facilities. We
have a courtyard (with couches and sometimes with a camp fire), a decently large
kitchen, a two-story lounge with a spiral staircase (!), and the only quads on
campus.
When I'm not sleeping or prowling around in Case, you might find
me playing with a bunch of juggling equipment outside. Or checking out the
social dance scene around the 5C's. Or coming up with shenanigans to do around
campus. Totally join me in the activities! That would make me super happy! In
addition, I like to study computer science, play piano, make artwork, and share
crazy stories with people. Speaking of stories, I have some from my epic study
abroad experiences in Hungary if that's something you're interested
in.
Again, my door is often open, so don't hesitate to stop by if you
want to chat!
Sarah Ferraro

Hi Everyone!
My name is Sarah, and I will your mentor of Topless L (lower
right) in Case! This will be my third year in the Pink Fortress (don't worry,
it is completely zombie proof) and I am looking forward to
another fabulous year! The courtyard, Two Story Lounge, and the corners of
our hallways (called "L"s for their shape) are excellent places
for homework parties (and just hanging out), so I hope you join me
there often!
I am a senior from Southern California who loves
sunshine, country music, and books about dragons. Some of you may have met me
as your tour guide around campus and seen my pink-themed room (you think
maybe I picked the right dorm?) or learned that the secret to
my backwards-walking skills actually came from my many years in
high school as a Band Geek =) Although I am completely in love with
my computer science major, I indulge my engineering side by mentoring
a high school FIRST Robotics team as part of the FRC Mentors Club and
by using a soldering iron to fix my broken jewelry. My door will always be
open, please stop by some time and say hi!
CIPACS! =D
Michael Morton

Hello everyone! My name is Michael Morton and I'll be the mentor for the lower left hall of Case. Case is an incredible pink wonderland that has a kitchen, a two-story lounge, and hallways instead of suites like all the other dorms. Since we live in hallways, we form a strong community throughout the dorm that lets us dominate in intramurals (especially inner tube water polo).
As for me, I'm a Math\CS major who grew up in a tiny town called Rangely in northwest Colorado. I'm a huge fan of most sports, though basketball's my favorite, and I'm always willing to drop everything and shoot hoops, throw a frisbee, or just chill for a while. I also love "singing" along with all kinds of music, playing video games with friends, and reading good books. I'm pretty much interested in everything, so come find me in Case 140 (the farthest back, most leftish room on the ground floor) anytime for anything. Did I mention I had CS in my major? Seriously, come find me ANYtime.
