2013 - 2014 Harvey Mudd College Proctor Position Agreement
The proctor position is one of considerable responsibility that requires a great deal of time and effort. As a result, Harvey Mudd College has some specific expectations of proctors in addition to those stated on the Job Description.
- Proctors cannot be a member of the Executive Board of ASHMC or member of an Honor Board.
- Proctors should not hold off-campus jobs or engage in other non-College activities that consume a great portion of their time. If a proctor wishes to pursue employment or major activities in addition to the proctor position, it must be discussed with and approved by the Campus Life Coordinator.
- Proctors must spend adequate time in their assigned community to get to know and develop relationships with residents. This expectation is especially true for proctors who have not previously lived in their assigned community.
- Proctors will be the last student in their residence hall to leave for vacations and the first student to return. Under exceptional circumstances, another proctor may cover this responsibility. During vacations when students remain on campus, proctors will arrange their schedules so that someone is on duty at all times.
- Proctors must return to campus on Saturday, August 17, 2013 to begin fall training and may not leave campus for winter break until after all of their dorm residents have vacated their rooms on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Please do not make airline reservations for any flight earlier than 2:00 p.m. on this day. (Under exceptional circumstances proctors may leave early with others covering the closing of their hall.) Proctors must return to campus on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 for training prior to the beginning of spring semester 2014.
- Proctors are not permitted, as Harvey Mudd College staff members, to sponsor any party involving alcohol.
- Proctors have access to sensitive information about fellow students. Proctors must maintain the privacy of information obtained through the position.
