Hannah Groshong - Atwood 1st floor
Hey Everyone! I'm Hannah and I will be the proctor for the first floor of Atwood! I have lived in Atwood for two years and I love the large suites, big showers and social life of the tallest dorm on campus. Atwood is a great, friendly place to live and the differing personalities of the suites make for a fun and diverse group of people that get along well.
A little bit about me: I'm an engineering major here at Mudd, I love to talk, and I still vividly remember the horrors of core physics. I love listening to music and I am constantly singing/whistling/humming some tune stuck in my head. Also, I can quote nearly every line in You've Got Mail. It's a classic.
So, you all know a few random facts about me, but I truly cannot wait to meet all of you! Whether you are a freshman just getting aquainted to all of Mudd's eccentricities, or a seasoned upperclassman who knows the ropes, I would love to meet you and know each of you by name. I know firsthand how hard things can get at Mudd and I am here to help you out! I will always be available to lend an ear and you are welcome to stop by my room anytime to try out my comfortable couch or enjoy a cup of tea. My door will be open, so don't be a stranger. It's going to be a great year!
Crystal Bong- Atwood 3rd floor
Hey everybody! My name is Crystal and I'm one of your two Atwood proctors for next year! This will be my third official year living in Atwood (I hung out a lot of my first year in Atwood, but was actually a Westie), so I would say that I have a pretty good handle on the dorm. In case you haven't heard enough about Atwood, we are the only three story dorm on campus with a great suite-style layout that includes the biggest showers on campus. Each suite has a very different personality, so it's hard to be bored in Atwood.
A little bit about me. I am a rising senior engineering major from Arcadia, CA, which is about a half an hour away from campus. I haven't decided which field of engineering I want to go into (thank goodness Mudd doesn't make us decide) but am interested in biomedical engineering, so potentially something that would help me work in those. I work with the DoS Muchachos on campus, which is a group of students who put on silly events for the whole campus every week. Definitely a great job, and I would encourage all of you to show up to their/our events! In my spare time, I like to run, play basketball, watch movies (all movies, good or bad. I'm not picky. Except for suspense/horror movies.), catch some concerts (classical and non-classical) that the other campuses and Disney Hall put on, and get off campus in general.
I can't wait to meet you guys! I'll be on the third floor in the proctor suite, so if you ever want to just hang out or talk to someone, feel free to stop by!

Michael Morton- Case 1st floor
Hello people!
My name is Michael Morton, and yes...I am in fact, related to someone you have, will or might not meet. I know, it's pretty a impressive claim to fame, but please try to remember that despite everything you might have heard, I'm still human.
In fact, I'm a fairly tall, goofy looking human with a passion for math, computers, sports, and video games. And poetry. And outdoor stuff. And music. And basically anything else that doesn't start with a 'b' and end with 'aseball. So if you ever want to play a game of frisbee, pretend to be a giant squid, or just hang out, all you need to do is find me.
Most of the time, I'll be hanging out in Case, which was recently proved to be by far the most pinkest of all dorms at Mudd. Case is amazing because it can be exactly what you want it to be! A typical day in Case may include board games, dancing up a storm, reading a book, or diving through the middle of a dart war. At the same time! Basically, Case it the place where anyone can find an awesome community where they feel they belong!
And just in Case you weren't already swayed to hang out at the most incredible dorm on campus (trust me on that, I've already lived there three years because it's so incredible), I have one final, irresistable temptation...

Hello! My name is Kenny Buyco and I'm the second floor 2012-13 proctor for Case Dorm! Case is the pinkest dorm on campus, has the biggest rooms, and is the only dorm with two lounges! I've lived in Case every year I've been at Mudd, and my favorite thing about the dorm is it has a very diverse group of people who are still able to connect and become close friends. I am consistently amazed by how nice everyone in the dorm is, and we have great inter-grade dorm bonding. I've been the dorm jock for Case for the last two years, which means I run intramural sports for the dorm, and Case won flag football, dodgeball, outdoor soccer, and last but not least INNER TUBE WATER POLO since I have been at Mudd. And not only are we great at playing inner tube water polo, but we're also the best fans, sporting white boards and megaphones to give our team that extra edge.
As for me, I'm an engineering major from the 206 (Seattle), and if you couldn't tell from my reign as dorm jock, I love all things sports. I love watching, playing, discussing, arguing about, and crying over sports, especially anything to do with Seattle or U-Dub (University of Washington). I run sports watching parties for a 5C (all 5 Claremont Colleges) club called the Claremont Sports Connection, so if sports are your thing, I'm your guy. Other than sports, I'm also a so-called "DOS (rhymes with sauce) Muchacho," which means I organize awesome events every week with other Muchachos, including classics such as Crib Races and the Haunted Hoch!!! Outside of my event planning, you can find me riding around campus on my blue-striped long board, or in my room where you can stop by and grab free candy (or talk to me, that's cool too...)!!!
Anyway, I'm genuinely excited to meet you all, and feel free to stop by and talk about anything ranging from school work stress to event ideas and sports. Welcome to Harvey Mudd!
Hello! I'm Megan, and I'm excited to be proctor of East Dorm for 2012-13 year! East is a friendly place with a strong sense of community. We can often be found in our lounge or working (or playing) diligently on our computers, but don't let that fool you into thinking we aren't social. Easties also spend lots of time chatting or watching movies together in the lounge, or enjoying the sunny SoCal weather out in the courtyard. We are always willing to pause the homework and play a game, so come over and play anytime!
As myself, I am a computational and mathematical biology major, with a focus on ecology, particularly in suburbia. I grew up in San Diego, CA, and therefore have never actually experienced the phenomenon of "winter." I enjoy reading, playing board games, singing in a choir, watching hummingbirds, and hanging out with my friends. During the fall of my junior year, I studied at a research institution in Woods Hole, MA, so if you ever have questions about studying off campus or how the Mudd experience compares to other college experiences, come ask!
Elly Schofield - Linde 1st floor
Hi there! I'm Elly, the 2012-13 first floor proctor for Linde. This will be my third year living in Linde (I missed it during sophomore year), and could'nt be happier about it. There's a great sense of community, lots of fun tradition, really great suites, and folks here are always ready to kick back a little bit at the end of a long day. It's a pretty awesome dorm(e).
For myself, I'm a proud math major with dreams of changing up early math education in the U.S. for the better. I like to do "all the things"---I've been an orientation sponsor and director, I've tutored with the Homework Hotline and the Writing Center, I've been in ASHMC, and I love spending my Sunday afternoons with DUCK!, the improv club on campus. I draw and sing a lot, and if you get me started talking about Seattle (my home town), it can be a bit hard to get me to stop. I really love talking to people about anything and everything, and listening to what you have to say; it's easy to get me to put down my homework to have a good conversation. So if you're interested in chatting about life, the universe, and everything, please come find me. I can't wait to talk with you!
Parker Martin - Linde 2nd floor
Howdy! I'm Parker, the second floor proctor for Linde Dorme. That's right, we spell it special. Linde is unique that we have suites with common lounge areas and this makes it quite familial. We're at the far end of campus from academics but it's only a 7 minute walk! Our community is known for legacy suites and having fun traditions, events and the like to bring us together.
When I'm at Mudd, I'm an engineer and have a fascination with economics. I'm an avid TV-watcher (Breaking Bad, anyone?) and a James Bond enthusiast. I like biking around campus and the rest of the 5Cs- I love adrenaline! I do research with the Biology department examining the kinetics of human walking. When I'm home, I'm back in Denver. I play video games, ski as often as I can, and you'll often see me on a tennis court if I have my way about it.
I'm extremely excited for this year! I am always happy to talk about anything. I'm upstairs in the back, in room 232. Please come by!

Julius Elinson - North
Hey young Mudders,
I'm Julius Elinson, proud proctor of North Dorm. This will be my fourth year living here and I am excited to welcome the next batch of Northies, as well as everyone else, to our lively and friendly dorm.
North prides itself on its athletic prowess (or at least its enthusiasim for such), the broad range of social events it puts on (mustaches and black light paint anyone?), and for its occasional boisterous moments. You'll often find folks playing basketball in the courtyard, enjoying bocce or croquet on the lawn, and organizing trips or a slew of other activities around Claremont. Despite being a high-energy dorm, we also recharge our batteries in a number of relaxing ways. Weekly BBQ's, impromptu games of Settler's of Catan, study groups, and vegging out in front of our TV projector in the lounge area are all common occurrences here at North. Throughout it all, from peak to trough, there is a persistent and charming sense of community, which we're eager for you to be part of.
As a quick bit about me, before being a spirited resident of North Dorm, I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. I'm a joint mathematics and computer science major. I enjoy biking (mountain and road), dancing (hip-hop, Brooklyn-instilled), reading (Vonnegut, Heller, Fitzgerald), and I'm just getting into rock climbing. But most of all, I like trying new things, so if you're into something, I'd love to learn about it. Stop by my room anytime you want--I'd love to chat and hear how you're doing. I can't wait to meet all of you. I know your time at Mudd, and especially North, will be a blast.
Hi everyone! My name is Scott and I will have the enormous pleasure of serving as Sontag's proctor this year. Sontag is the newest of the dorms on campus and famous for its plethora of kitchens. It also has grown quite the reputation of late for being the "classy dorm," especially with such parties as Trés Chic (which just sounds classy, doesn't it?). In my semester abroad I've also spent lots of time exploring my love of baking, so feel free to stop by some time during the year to sample or even help make cookies, pavlova (the national dessert of Austrailia and New Zealand), eclairs, and who knows what else? You will have to visit to come and see.
So, a few things about me. I love puns and other word play in general (so if you don't like such things, steel yourself for some serious pun-ishment). I also love cooking and baking and look forward to making many sweets and treats next year as aforementioned, as well as reading, social ballroom dance (something you should all consider taking for PE credit) hiking/backpacking, playing Minecraft (It's almost like Legos!), playing with Legos (even better than Minecraft!), and of course, I love learning about chemistry (and being able to play with liquid nitrogen on occasion).

Hello! My name is Kim Kilday, and I am South proctor. Southies are known for being easy-going and fun-loving. There are often students in the courtyard lounging on the hammock, swinging from the tire swing, curled up on a couch doing some homework, or playing an extra-large game of chess. If your'e lucky, you might smell freshly baked cookies coming from the dorm kitchen. Eveyone is welcome to come by and hang out. South has become a place where I can relax with friends, cook tasty treats, and study in the sunshine. I'm an engineering major, with a particular interest in alternative energy. Most of the time I am pretty quiet (I really like listening, so feel free to come by and talk), but if you turn up the music, I'll be out there dancing, whether it's swing, salsa, hip hop or blues. I also really enjoy hiking and painting, so if you are looking for outdoor beautiful sights, I can offer a few suggestions. You're always welcome to come by my suite and grab something sweet, chat or do homework in good company. Looking forward to getting to know you!
Hi everyone! I'm Liana (pronounced Lee-AH-nuh) proctor of the one and only West Dorm. I've lived in West four years now and consider it my home. the denizens of West are outgoing, fun, non-judgemental, and know how to balance work and play. Westies enjoy a good pallet fire, as long as it doesn't rise higher than the top of the dorm, and breaking the occasional electronic device. What is truly unique about Westies is our creativity, there is always some new crazy contraption being built in the courtyard. You might catch us watching a movie on the screen in our courtyard, playing Turtles in Time on Gauntlet, or just chillin' on our couches or around the fire pit. West truly is the best!
I'm an engineering major with a focus on biomedical applications. I'm in the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi and last year I was West Dorm President! I like to listen to music, everything from bluegrass to rap, playing/watching sports (Go Broncos!), eating greasy Chinese food, hiking, jewelry, roller skating, and pictures of all things small and fuzzy.
Please feel free to stop by my room for any reason! If you want to chat, watch youtube videos, play games, eat candy, or just need a hug I am always around. My room is the downstairs right fishbowl next to the bulletin board. If I'm not in my room check the courtyard or look for me riding my purple bike, fully equipped with a basket, around campus. Brady Sutton - Off Campus
Hey there everyone, I am Brady Sutton, and next year I will have the pleasure of being your off campus proctor! I am super excited about the prospect of meeting all of you, even though no frosh will be placed in off-campus housing. The off campus housing tends to attract the older seniors and juniors who desire some more space as well as wonderful attractions (such as the lovely pool), and you shouldn't be shy to come over and hang out with us, because there isn't an unfriendly face in the bunch.
Before making my way to beautiful and sunny California, I grew up in a small(ish) town called Lafayette, Indiana. It certainly wasn't the happening city LA is, and so at times I have found the city life a bit overwhelming, so if you are also feeling homesick for homegrown corn and the rooster crowing in the morning, I'm always happy to remember the good old days. However, the area is beautiful, with Mount Baldy providing excellent outdoor adventures if you are looking for a close hike, as well as Joshua Tree being only an hour or so away for an exciting weekend trip. I love the outdoors, and enjoy hiking and canoeing the most, though I have been known to do some rock climbing and mountain biking when the area is more favorable for that. As an engineering major with an emphasis on mechanical knowledge, I love to build and make new things. some the odd skills that I have picked up over the years are whittling and blacksmithing, so you might see me whittling a spoon outside if the day is nice.
I look forward to meeting you next year, and don't be afraid to come by next year!
