ASHMC Voting Site
Haak produced a website for ASHMC voting over the summer. Any electronic voting system must be approved by ASHMC. Website is available at courses.st.hmc.edu. Snazzy!
What would you say about the availability of the website?
It should be fine with many students voting at once, accessible to anyone on our network.
Reliability of the servers?
It hasn’t crashed on the current server yet.
Authenticating users?
Separate account from CIS accounts. Could authenticate with Google accounts, but I haven’t done it yet.
How long did it take you to make the website?
I’m not sure, but you can look on GitHub.
You can change the blog style of the front page, right?
Yes. It’s modeled after the ASPC website, but it can change.
What are the policies on hosting?
It can be deployed anywhere, it’s just currently hosted on the server in my room.
How long will it take to set up for everyone?
An hour if I have a roster. If you want me to go through CIS, then it will take longer.
Who will manage it after you graduate, and what happens on the system when people graduate?
It’s all on GitHub, so anyone can take it up. We can see if someone graduated, but it doesn’t do anything for that right now. We can lock their account, block them from voting, etc.
Motion to approve voting system as an option.
Seconded

NOMIC club STEPHEN club charter and budget request
Discovered the game of NOMIC a couple years ago, and lends itself to many directions. It would be convenient to have a compilation of all the games Mudders might want to play. The club would have all the games and equipment centralized and arrange meetings. STEPHEN stands for “Students Together Endeavoring to Play, Honor, and Enjoy Nomic.”
Do you currently have a mailing list and how many people are on it?
22.
What do you hope to establish by being an official club?
The club exists so that we can have shared equipment, shared knowledge and understanding about games.
Would you be seeking a budget request from us?
Yes. Soon.
Motion to establish STEPHEN as a club.

Budget Request from STEPHEN
When did you start and begin buying this equipment?
October was when we started meeting, we bought stuff in April
Because it’s a long-form game, can anyone just jump in?
Yes, short answer.
Why 7 sets of pieces but 8 boards?
Just in case we lost one and we didn’t feel like we needed more.
Students-l petition
Pomona Sophomore is living in Case this year and is petitioning to be put on students-l. We have to approve any non-Mudd student on students-l.
Motion to approve addition to students-l petition

Dry Week Language Change
Josiah would like to change the language of Dry Week in the student handbook, on page 66 and 67 in the 2012-2013 student handbook
Meal Plan Changes
Description of item/activity/group goes here.
Important question from ASHMC Council?
Equally important answer.
Important question from ASHMC Council?
Equally important answer.
STEPHEN budget request:
Adam – Assuming they can come up with receipts, I think it’s reasonable because it’s not a lot of money. In terms of VGA port, that’s unreasonable because you can totally borrow them. Refreshments are fine.
Liya – During budgeting, what did we say we’d offer per member?
Josiah – up to 100 dollars per member, but this is only 33 dollars approximately
Lucas—are there any other retroactive reimbursement from the pieces and boards?
Adam—I don’t see it as a problem since it still belongs to the club.
Motion to approve budget request without VGA port adapter

Dry Week:
Robert—the currently wording as it stands has no gray area. It clearly says on campus. But if we were to say that on campus includes places off campus, that causes more issues and more needs for clarification. For example, where do the boundaries for these apartments end? We need to make a distinction between off campus off campus or on campus off campus.
Adam—My high school had a similar policy for cigarettes. You could be standing across the street from an authority figure, but they couldn’t do anything about it. It’s such a silly distinction to cut a swath out of Brighton Park, for instance. Is it private property controlled by Brighton Park? Then we don’t really have jurisdiction over it.
Travis—In terms of ambiguity, Dean Guy and DB chair determined that on campus means on campus and HMC property. Extending it there would go beyond what Dry Week is supposed to do.
Josiah—in response to current ambiguity, Proctors and Deans do not feel that drinking off campus at apartments should be allowed considering that they have the chance to come to campus drunk.
Jack—The Deans and proctors concern is irrelevant because of the wording.
Josiah—I understand, but it is still a concern.
Ayyappa—If they have that concern, then should anyone be allowed to drink anywhere off campus?
Nate—Has this been a problem in the past?
Josiah—Not so far, but Brighton is relatively new.
Jason—The way I read this, you can drink off campus with frosh.
Lucas—I think there is a possibility of events happening off campus during dry week, and we should clarify that any events should be dry if they include freshmen.
Robert—The technicality degrades the integrity of the Honor Code and the college.
Ben—A lot of the concern is caught with the over 21 statement.
Jacob—I don’t think there’s any ambiguity, but the easiest way to prevent any ambiguity is to strike on campus from the sentence.
Haak—are there no ramifications of redefining campus?
Josiah—there are. But we could reword it to remove those.
No proposal for amendment.
