 Report from CIS Representative -- Nick Card
Hufsa- what’s going on with Parsons?
Nick – part of the reason they’re getting rid of the lab is because CIS was kicked out so space could be used
    Lab will be open through the end of this year
    It’s not CIS’s doing
    The space is needed for other facilities
Ryan – what facilities?
Nick – I don’t know…
    Joseph and Calvin would like to come speak to you in a couple of weeks
    They’re concern is the way students have been using the facilities
    CIS wants to change the email system away from zimbra (which costs a lot)
    We want to move to google
Wylie- when they move the computers, are they going to be retained?
    There are fewer macs now than before…
Nick – I don’t know.
    CIS wants to move to one platform for all users for savings
    They want to save money for things like licenses
Hufsa- are there specific things we want Nick to relay to his committee?
    We are concerned about having enough computers for students to work on
Nick – I will pass on those concerns
    Do you know how often the Parsons lab is full?
Ryan – it gets full sometimes during Crack
Margaret- when there’s overspill from the ECF
Jackma – will there still be a printer available in the Galileo area?
Nick – CIS wants to put a printer in their main lobby for day printing
    We could probably also get a printer in the Galileo lobby
    I can talk to CIS about that
Ryan – I would like to know what is going to be put in that space
    Is it really important that space gets used that way?
    The Parsons lab is really convenient
Nick – Is the difference between that and Sprague that big of a deal?
Wylie- it’s not as useful when you need to work with other people
Margaret- a benefit of the Parsons lab is that it gets constant traffic
    Maybe a smaller lab in the same place?
Hufsa-  Could this be brought up with F&M at DAC meetings
Scott- we can do that next week
