DAC-  Starting dorm improvement projects.
North- good. Suds last night. Cleaning up.
CAP- okay. A lot of people using it. We will be out of money if all of the events go through though.
West- fine.
Sophomores- Good. Alumni dinner went well last night. Weren’t a ton of students or alums. 22 juniors 40 sophomores  RSVP-ed but not that many showed. 12 alums. Good food.
Seniors- good. Process of voting for graduation speakers. Will be wrapped up by Wednesdsay.
Athletics- good.
Social- good. Suds last night
Linde- good. Quinceanera was good.
East- good.
South- good
Atwood- Celebratory event Friday. Rootbeer keg and BBQ tonight
VP- Election reached quorum. Voting today. Tonight find out the winners.
Treasurer- good. NY times finally made it. Dorm money dispersed this week. Signing on the accounts not made yet. Need minutes with new dorm positions, etc.

Nicole Scheunemann- Pitzer Reggae Festival Committee Budget Request
Sean- Party on November 7th from 4pm-12. Dance party until 3 am. Free food, drinks. Free to 5Cs. Bands: Egyptian and Warrior King. Requesting $1,000. Will be advertising through flyering and facebook.
Caro- Use table tents
Maureen- How many Mudd students were there last year?
Nicole- Historically not that many. 50-70
Margaret- How many people go total?
Nicole- 1000 throughout the day. Mudd gave $500 last year.
Caro- Did Social give any money?
Nicole- Didn’t know about it last year. Will go ask for money this year.

Mary Moore-Simmons- Mixology Budget Request
Mary- Asking for money. Interest level of 60 people. Meeting last Thursday. 40-50 people showed up. Want $100 for books. $150 for equipment (shakers, stirrers, etc.). Buying from places where don’t sell alcoholic- no way to spend this money on alcohol.
Raffi- Where would club equipment be kept?
Mary- In my room because I’m the president. Put it in LAC if more people interested.

BaconSHMC- Budget Request
Marquis- VP of Baconshmc. Requesting $350 for purchase of bacon. Currently about 70 official members in the club. There are 30 others who have expressed interest. No official meeting yet. About $5 per person. It’s about $2.50 for okay bacon, $20 for really good bacon.
Julian- How many meetings?
Marquis- Hoping for 3.
Maureen- How often?
Marquis- Once every two weeks
Raffi- Buying just bacon?
Marquis- Basically. Only for food. Providing own cooking utilities.
Alyssa- How much bacon are you eating?
Marquis- Not a meal’s worth per person. For tasting.
Donald- Are you doing internal fund raising?
Marquis- Yes, probably will have to. Haven’t discussed it yet.
Raffi- Know about bacon tasting? Club meeting yet?
Marquis- Will look into it. No meeting yet. This coming week.
Alyssa- Will you use money to purchase grill or eatery?
Marquis- Plan on providing it for ourselves.
Bryan- Have you considered ordering bacon through the Hoch and donating meals? Marquis- Haven’t. We will think about it.

David Huie- SHPE National Conference Budget Request
David- Planning on sending 5 members to conference on Oct. 28. Used to have enough funding. Have about $1200. Asking for about $1800 for the rest of the cost
Maureen- Why 5 members?
David- Same amount sent in previous years.
Maureen- Sending people from all classes?
David- Yes.
Nick- Efforts to fundraise?
David- Talked to OID. Maybe. Just had a meeting about it.
Caro- How much did we give last year?

David- In Phoenix last year. This year in DC.

Maureen- Every year they ask for $1000. Usually give $400. Gave $500 last year.
Julian- Why not go through social?
Caro- Didn’t know about it.
Nick- Will they get money from social?
Caro- they can. Don’t know for sure. But probably will. How much do other schools give?
Maureen- about $1000.
Strieter- Not as many people from Mudd go.

Maureen- Need to do more research.
Bryan- 40-70 pounds of bacon means 1/3 pound of bacon per person per meeting.
Julian- 40 people. $8 per person. Should fundraise through Hoch.

Maureen- Have issues with the amount of time the bacon will last.
Caro- Panchete and grilled ham are more expensive. Singer looked into it.
Raffi- If 40-50 participation, then it’s not that much money. Need internal funding and Hoch stuff. Think reasonable.

Dean Maggie Browning- Compensation for ASHMC Officers Discussion
Maggie- compensation
-question of ASHMC members should get compensation for their work
Patrick Foley brought it up to Maria Klawe. She feels that they should. In particular, helps students on financial aid, would be work study. But not officially. Play same role.
-Researched sister colleges.
-VP Dorantes researched. Goes through ASHMC then ton of taxes. Negatively affects financial aid. Instead make ASHMC officers have requirement that they reside on campus. Stipend of form of room credit. Not taxable. Condition of employment. Split it 50/50 with DOS. $1000 stipend for president. Less for other officers. Catch is ASHMC has to put up other half. Would require change in constitution.

Donald- motivation behind this? Increase interest in ASHMC people running?
Maggie- responsible positions. Lots of work. There should be compensation for taking positions seriously. Three of other colleges already do, many other colleges do it too. Concern- not level playing field for financial aid. Contribute through work-study—already having to work. The chances that you have time to say you’re going to be ASHMC president are less. Klawe’s goal that 10-15 hours a week could be taken over by this. Serious time consuming job. Value work that officers do.
Julian- how much work do the officers have?
Maureen- a lot. Meetings, emails. More than you thought.
Nick- depends on what’s going on. Would free up more time. See greater quality of work from those who are compensated
Bryan- don’t have problem with quality of work. More people to run?
Raffi- see it as compensation. Not as a motive for interest. Don’t want people to run to get compensation.
Bryan- won’t see it as a time suck. Would look like it would be voting to pay ourselves.
Maureen- Need to hold student election because involves change in constitution

Maggie- Assumed 2 VP positions, will tlk to VP Dorantes.
Alyssa- Splitting work should mean splitting compensation.

Donald- How much work do each of you do per week?
Strieter- 3-4 hours a week. Depends on check requests. Not counting emailing.
Maureen- About 15 hours per week average. Some weeks more (check emails, meetings, prep for meetings).
VP’s- Fluctuates. Probably a little less than 6 hours per week. This may be an over estimate. (budgeting, elections, emails, meetings, 5C music festival).
Donald- Giving $750 to others and $1000 to the president- is this split evenly?
Raffi- President should divide work up more to the executive council.

Margaret- Is the Executive Assistant work study?
Maureen- No. $400 total. Students-l moderator gets $500/semester.
Erin- Other positions (i.e. social) spend 2-3 hours a week with work, same as some of the executive council.
Maggie- Over a semester- 150 hours total for president. 90 hours total for VP’s, and 45 hours total for treasurer.
Nick- Log hours. Hard to estimate, depends on week.
Raffi- Also, VP’s do self project (i.e. student garden and library)
Maggie- This is for next year, so executive council should log hours for next couple months
