Status Updates
Nick- Holding ASHMC elections. Currently no senior candidate for appeals board. Extended deadline for seniors to Monday.
Atwood- Atwood vs. Atwood water-polo game tonight.
South- good. Another dorm meeting Tuesday.
Social- good. Suds is this weekend.
Seniors- good. Talk about candidates for graduation speaker with Maggie.
Athletics- good. Need to know who from the dorms are going to show up at Athletics meetings.
West- played wiffle ball against South.
Linde- good. Had Catholic School Girls last night.
CAP- good. Need CAP representatives from dorms.
Juniors- good. Alumni grill coming up. 20 Juniors, 40 Sophomores signed up. Room for 150. Need more, but already extended date.
Sophomores- good.
Sontag- good.
East- good.
Case- good. Took frosh to dinner.
North- good. Suds coming up.
Maggie- DOS is good. Incident occurred*** on Foothill and Mills. Another email to be sent out.
Strieter- New York Times should start tomorrow. Gave Social, CAP, and Athletics their money.
Janel Hastings- WASC meeting with ASHMC
-WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges- need them to get accreditation to get funding.
-Visiting Tuesday, October 6th and leave by Thursday, October 8th.
-Mudd explored experiential learning and diversity in its WASC proposal. Three step process (Proposal, CPR phase, Educational Effectiveness Review). Hoping for 10-year re-accreditation. Faculty peers will be here to make assessment for CPR.
-They want to meet with students and talk about school-life balance, personal growth. Discuss how college is doing with regards to experiential learning and diversity on campus.
-Would like ASHMC members to meet with WASC assessment team on Wednesday, October 7th, 3:30-4:20 PM in Baker Room. They also have meeting with diversity committee. Also, there is an open student forum on Wednesday, October 7th at 11 AM with two members of WASC team (no formal agenda) in Green Room. Spread word. Email will be sent out to student-l about how students who cannot attend forum can email WASC team.
Chris Strieter- ASHMC Computer Budget Request
-Showed breakdown of ASHMC budget. ASHMC magazine- $400 budget to buy magazines for student body. Getting renewal notices, wondering if keep program going.
Chris- Possible magazines: Time, Forbes, Make, Science, science oriented magazines.
Maureen- Issues with magazines?
Caro- Need more female magazines, i.e. Cosmo.
Hufsa- Has there been a poll about what magazines students want?
Maureen- Patrick sent out an email asking last year. Another email will be sent out to students-l
Magaret- Get Wired magazine.

Strieter- ASHMC has three very old PC’s. Holds treasure forms, tracks finances, used for tax forms, etc. For accountant. The laptop is old and crashed a few times. Has important. Suggestions: use long-term fund, expect 5-year usage. Upgrade? Should ASHMC have an official computer? Mac or PC?
Caro- Mac is too expensive for this.
Bryan- Set something up to run off Charlie.
Caro- Buy Quicken every year for treasurer?
Strieter- Not the best idea
Nick- Set up Quicken to be accessed.
Donald- Talk to CIS about old computers they have. Doesn’t need anything too fancy.
Raffi- Need a good computer to last 5 years.
Caro- Dell is at least half the price and is reliable.
Alyssa- Desktop?
Strieter- Having portability is important.
Maureen- Laptop works better, easier.
Nick- Three options: Run off Charlie folder, rent laptop from CIS, buy laptop (not Mac)
Erin- Trying to give them to the LAC earlier. Probably would give one to ASHMC.
