Since 1998, HMC’s Linde Activities Center (LAC) has been the hub of students’ recreational and fitness activities. The LAC has aerobics and weight rooms, meeting rooms, a basketball court, video games, a television, an Xbox 360, and a gaming area including foosball, billiards, and ping pong. The LAC, located at the east side of campus, is open to all students of the Claremont Colleges. HMC faculty and staff (including children over the age of 13 and spouses) are also welcome. However, eligible non-students must complete User Agreement, Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability forms at the Human Resources Office prior to using the facility. Your student ID card is required to enter the facility.

During the 2012-2013 academic year, the LAC will be open according to the following schedule:

11:30 AM - 1:30 AM

 

New in 2012, the LAC weight room will expand to include two Olympic lifting platforms and barbells. Students will not be permitted to use this platform unless a LAC employee is on duty in the weight room, which will occur daily between the hours of 7:30 PM and 11:30 PM.

Room Reservations
If you are interested in reserving one of the two conference rooms or the gym for college activities, please visit http://emsweb.claremont.edu/hmc/. If you would like to reserve the aerobics room or weight room, please visit Harvey Mudd College's Facilities and Maintenance office. Your request must be approved by Dean Chris Sundberg and submitted to HMC's Facilities and Maintenance office.

 

Item Rental
Mudderbikes
The LAC owns a fleet of 17 bicycles that are available for students to check out for 24-hour periods. Please note that students are financially responsible for the bike while it is checked out to them. The LAC stresses the importance of locking the frame of the bikes, not just the front wheel, to one of the college's many bike racks in order to prevent the loss of Mudderbikes.

General Items
Additionally, the LAC has hundreds of items that may be checked out by HMC students. You can check out everything from Nerf guns, to power drills, to speakers. Please visit our online database, found at http://lacdb.ac.hmc.edu to view our complete inventory.

Media

Netflix and Hulu Plus

New this year, the LAC provides access to a flat screen TV equipped with Netflix and Hulu Plus, as well as local cable stations. This replaces the LAC's previous DVD collection and makes thousands of movies and TV shows available to the student body.

 

Xbox LIVE

Along with Netflix and Hulu Plus, the Xbox 360 now located in the TV area in the LAC comes equipped with Xbox Live. Students can now enjoy the online gaming experience either with their own account or by using the LAC's, without having to bring their Xbox from home.
