Charter of the Gonzo Unicycle Madness Club
of Harvey Mudd College
27 March 1994
Statement of Purpose
The Gonzo Unicycle Madness Club (GUMC) of Harvey Mudd College is established
to preserve the fine art of unicycle riding, to encourage social activities
among unicyclists, to provide an excuse to perform stupid unicycle tricks,
and most importantly, to encourage pedestrians to repent and learn to ride.
Elections
The GUMC shall have one officer, formally known as "The Officer." The
Officer shall be elected annually each May in a regular club meeting. Any
club member may be considered as a candidate for the position of The Officer
by saying "I would like to be a candidate for the office of The Officer."
Duties
The Officer will be responsible for organizing all club functions, including
at least one uni run per month. The Officer shall maintain the club's spare
parts depository and be responsible for all club funds. The Officer shall
reserve strawberry donuts at Foster's on the day of the Annual Foster's Run.
The Officer may delegate any of its responsibilities to any other club member
by creating a new office and appointing the member to that office.
Membership
Membership in the uni club shall be open to any person who can ride a
unicycle or desires to ride a unicycle. Membership dues will be set and
collected at the discretion of The Officer. The GUMC shall not withhold
membership on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, national
origin, political affiliation, or any other characteristic. The GUMC does,
however, reserve its right to expound the glory of unicycling to any practitioner
of any form of transportation that does not have exactly one wheel, including
but not limited to: skateboards, bicycles, tricycles, mopeds, rowboats, motorcycles,
automobiles, airplanes, horse-drawn carriages, pogo sticks, hang gliders,
busses, monorails, canoes, trains, toboggans, and if invented, teleportation.
Charter Revision
This charter may be revised or amended by any member who cares to do so,
provided it can find a copy of it, and get itself appointed by The Officer
to the office of The Official Reviser and Amender of the Charter.
