HMC Puzzlers Take On Rose-Hulman

Mar 21, 2008 - Claremont, Calif. - Harvey Mudd College’s winning team from last semester’s puzzle hunt that pitted teams from HMC and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is organizing another similar competition to be held Saturday, April 19, 2008.

Mudders Carefully Solving Puzzles, the team that won the previous competition, is organizing the event with the help of puzzlers at Rose-Hulman. The HMC group is assembling teams of six to 10 persons to participate on the campuses of The Claremont Colleges. The Rose-Hulman teams will participate from their campus in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Last semester’s competition was organized by professors David Fisher (Rose-Hulman, mechanical engineering) and Bob Schaffer (HMC, engineering), who are good friends and former roommates from Stanford.

According to this semester’s organizers Brian Rice '08 and Josh Ehrlich '11, the April competition will be “somewhat parallel, rather than linear as last fall, so that teams will have more than one puzzle that they can work on at a time.”

Interested students, alumni and friends of HMC with an interest in puzzles are invited to participate. For more information, contact organizers Rice or Ehrlich  or visit the puzzle hunt website. Interested persons on campus can also sign up to be part of an electronic mailing list. To do so, email listkeeper@hmc.edu and type "subscribe puzzlehunts-l" in the body of your message.
