Mudders Excel at Putnam Competition

Mar 20, 2008 - Claremont, Calif. - This marks the fifth time in the last seven years that HMC has landed in the Putnam Competition's Top 10. The Top Five teams this year were Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Stanford and Duke. In the Honorable Mention category with Harvey Mudd College were Caltech, Carnegie Mellon, the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo.

In the individual category, two students earned Honorable Mentions, while three made the Top 200 list and seven made the Top 500 list. Only eight of the 516 schools that competed had more students in the top 500.

Minton '08, Spaide '09 and Rice '08 will receive the RIF Prize which honors the top Mudd finishers in the Putnam each year. In addition, George Tucker '08, Jacob Scott '11, Kenji Kozai '08 and Ryan Muller '11 made the Top 500 List.

We are proud of all 41 students who sacrificed their time, talent and energies to represent HMC in this year’s Putnam competition. These students who enjoy problem-solving represent a cross-section of majors at the college. Please join us in congratulating all those who participated!
