Feb 26, 2007 - Claremont, Calif. - Maria Klawe was inaugurated as the fifth president of Harvey Mudd College on February 3, 2007. During the ceremony, she was feted by family, friends and colleagues.
Before he installed her as president, Board of Trustees Chair William A. Mingst said:
Our college is a place where the nation's finest young minds come to learn ways to meet the ever-evolving challenges of our times. The college's trustees knew we needed to find someone with vision and determination . . . not just a vision of building laboratories or of hiring the best faculty, but a vision of making the world a better place for current and future generations. When we met Maria Klawe, we knew our search was over.
