Harvey Mudd College was named one of the nation’s best values by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, which announced its annual rankings of private liberal arts colleges and universities that deliver a high-quality education at an affordable price on Thursday, October 28, 2010.
 
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance ranked HMC #37 on its list of "100 Best Values in Private Colleges” that combine outstanding economic value with exceptional education. The magazine ranked colleges according to academic quality and affordability, with quality accounting for two-thirds of the total. Colleges were selected from a pool of more than 600 private institutions provided by Peterson’s.
 
The annual Kiplinger 100 rankings will appear in the December 2010 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine, available on newsstands on November 9. In addition, Kiplinger ranks an additional 100 private institutions on its website. The expanded list, totaling 200 schools, can be found at http://www.kiplinger.com/reports/best-college-values.

Harvey Mudd College, along with the Claremont Colleges, was highlighted by Kiplingers as an exceptionally good value this year.

In the December 2010 issue, Jane Bennet Clark of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine writes, "For more great deals, check out the Claremont Colleges, five small liberal-arts colleges -- Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer and Scripps, along with Pomona -- on adjoining campuses about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Students who enroll in one of the colleges can take classes at any of the others, an approach that other colleges have lately adopted in an effort to share resources and restrain costs. Claremont Colleges stand on their own when it comes to value, however. Each appears on this year’s rankings."
