HMC American Gamelan Will Perform Dec. 14

Dec 12, 2007 - Claremont, Calif. - The Harvey Mudd College American Gamelan will present a free concert of new music Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Platt Campus Center.

The program will feature the traditional gongs and metallophones of Indonesia playing decidedly non-traditional music from California, including works by Bill Alves, Tom Flaherty and Lou Harrison.

The Harvey Mudd College American Gamelan was created by Associate Professor of Music Bill Alves and includes Alves, Daniel Garcia, Greg Jackson, Mark Nelson, Julie Simon, Benjamin Smith, Sayuri Soejima and Darryl Yong.
