Earth-to-Claremont Event Set for Sept. 27

Sep 24, 2007 - Claremont, Calif. - "Earth-to-Claremont," a Claremont Colleges consortium-wide environmental fair showcasing the many and diverse environmental initiatives underway across the campuses, will take place Thursday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harvey Mudd College. The event is free and open to the public.

Part poster session and part celebration, the outdoor event will feature a live band and a barbecue and take place in Hixon Courtyard on the Harvey Mudd College campus. The event will feature student and faculty research, campus organizations, clinic projects, curricular opportunities, extracurricular activities and other initiatives. Among the presenters will be a team of students of The Claremont Colleges who are leading the Campus Sustainability Initiative, a comprehensive audit of energy use and the environmental impact of the Colleges. Visitors are invited to share ideas and learn about the remarkable array of opportunities for incorporating environmental considerations into their intellectual, professional and life pursuits.

The first event of its kind, "Earth-to-Claremont" is sponsored by the Center for Environmental Studies at Harvey Mudd College, the Environmental Studies Field Group at Pitzer College, the Environmental Analysis Program at Pomona College and the Roberts Environmental Center at Claremont McKenna College.
