Harvey Mudd College students applied their engineering judgment while conducting non-destructive evaluation of bridges--part of their field experience for E 80: Experimental Engineering. The students use impact devices to excite the bridges (California freeway overpasses) and use highly sensitive seismic instruments to monitor motions that they then analyze to extract response characteristics.
