Mar 16, 2005 - Claremont, Calif. - Youlonda Copeland-Morgan has been named vice president of admission and financial aid at Harvey Mudd College. "Youlonda Copeland-Morgan's stellar record of working to bring the nation's brightest students to Harvey Mudd College makes her the obvious choice to lead our Office of Admission and Financial Aid," said HMC President Jon Strauss. "Not only has she distinguished herself at our college, but she has shared her expertise with countless others in her field. Her deep appreciation of the value of higher education and her steadfast dedication to equity and access is inspiring." In a distinguished career that spans 25 years, Copeland-Morgan has held numerous leadership positions in student financial aid and has been honored for her commitment to sound financial aid policy that affects access, equity and minority participation in higher education. Most recently, she was named to The College Board's College Scholarship Service Hall of Fame and has received distinguished service awards from California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA) and The College Board Western Region. She has served on the board of directors of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, as president of WASFAA, as chair of the Financial Aid Standards Advisory Committee of The College Board and as a faculty member in the Continuing Education Counseling Certificate Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, and The College Board's Enrollment Management Institute. Copeland-Morgan earned her bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University and her master of business administration degree from the University of La Verne. She frequently provides testimony to elected officials and is a frequent speaker on access and equity issues in higher education.
