Nov 21, 2006 - Claremont, Calif. - HMC needs an official song—and you can help. Professor Sarah Harris of the HMC Department of Engineering is accepting submissions for the Harvey Mudd College Anthem. Members of the HMC community are welcome to participate. Submissions should include a written score, lyrics and a recording of the anthem. Submissions of lyrics only or music only are also acceptable. The recording need not include vocals, but should be a good representation of the song. Anthems that capture the spirit of Harvey Mudd College and its mission are of particular interest. Submissions and their lyrics should be appropriate for all audiences. The anthem has a chance to debut at the inauguration of HMC President Maria Klawe on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007. It will also be played during Stan Love's '87 shuttle flight in 2007. Humorous and/or witty submissions are welcome and will be considered for outtakes to be featured at the inauguration ceremony. The prize for the best anthem is $100—and bragging rights! Anthems submissions should include a CD, sheet music and lyrics, and contact information (name, phone number, address and HMC affiliation.) Submissions should be received by January 5, 2007 and sent to: Harvey Mudd College Attn: Sarah Harris Parsons, Room 2359 260 E. Foothill Blvd. Claremont, CA 91711
