The Founders of Harvey Mudd College invested in a bold idea: educate engineers and scientists grounded in the humanities and social sciences fully aware of their social responsibility.
Through targeted recruitment, individual student attention, a rigorous core curriculum and exceptional faculty, the formula was established. With a clear understanding of societal needs, these innovative thinkers were brave enough to create the foundation for the next generation of fluid, fearless, forward-looking scientists who understand the impact they will have on the world.
It took a personal, emotional, physical and financial investment to put this idea into action. Fifty-five years later, Harvey Mudd College has proven to be the small, excellent college our founders envisioned.
The concept they set into motion is realized every time a new student arrives, when a parent sees their child exceed their expectations, when alumni excel in their careers and make a difference in their communities and when a high school student, who never heard of this place, is now passing algebra with the help of an HMC student tutor.
