How can I include HMC in my will?
This is typically a very easy process. We have provided guidance and suggested language for a bequest in the Legal Information section on this website.
I have established a planned gift for HMC through another service provider. Should I notify HMC?
Yes, by notifying the Office of Planned Giving, you may earn gift credit at HMC and receive an invitation to join the honorary Legacy Society. HMC also benefits by learning of assets that may be available to it in the future.
How does the university credit my planned gift?
We record the full contribution to a life income arrangement (charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust) as a charitable gift. Bequests or tentative designations are credited as pledges. Permanent designations in an irrevocable trust may be credited as a cash gift. Please contact the Office of Planned Giving for more information.
How can my planned gift apply to an upcoming campaign?
Planned gifts, including bequests, are often included in support of campaign efforts and the Office of Planned Giving would be glad to discuss such options with you. It’s important to note that because the financial proceeds from many planned gifts are not available until some future, indeterminate date, such gifts may not be suitable to support current needs of the College, such as new construction.
Can I designate my planned gift to be used for a specific purpose?
Yes, you may designate any planned gift to a specific department, scholarship, or other purpose within HMC. However, gifts that are available to the College without restrictions on their use are very valuable to leadership, because they allow flexibility in putting the funds to their best use.
What is HMC’s tax identification number?
HMC's federal tax ID is: 95-1911219
