A Success Story

Can you imagine a college just over 50 years old, with 750 students and 85 faculty, emerging as a leading innovator in science, math and engineering education?

Harvey Mudd College was founded in 1957 in response to a need for socially responsible scientists and engineers. Today, the College boasts one of the most rigorous and relevant curriculums in the nation. With cutting-edge interdisciplinary courses and experiential learning, we prepare our students to take on the world’s challenges.

Our Mission

Harvey Mudd College seeks to educate engineers, scientists and mathematicians, well versed in all of these areas and in the humanities and the social sciences so that they may assume leadership in their fields with a clear understanding of the impact of their work on society. We believe this mission to be as essential today as it was at our founding.
