Number of applications: 3,144 (Class of 2015)

Number admitted: 658 (20.9%)
Number enrolled: 195

What were the high school rankings and SAT scores of the entering class?
Eighty-nine percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school classes (of those high schools that provided rank information). Twenty-nine percent of the students in the entering class were valedictorian or salutatorian of their graduating high school class. The middle fifty percent of the class received the following SAT scores:

Critical Reading: 690-770
Writing: 690-770
Math: 740-800
Math 2 Subject: 760-800          

It’s not surprising that about 30 percent of HMC students are National Merit Scholars. Only one other liberal arts college in the country has more. In other words, you’ll be surrounded by people who take academics as seriously as you do.

HMC's first-year students come from 30 states and 12 countries:

California: 30%
West (excluding CA): 6%
Northwest: 8%
Southwest: 7%
Midwest: 10%
Northeast: 21%
South: 6%
International: 12%

Approximately 70 percent of HMC students graduated from public high schools.

How diverse is HMC?
Our work in the classroom reflects the real world. We think our campus should too. We want to bring as many perspectives, cultures, backgrounds, and learning styles into the mix as possible. But we know we can do better. We’re always trying to increase the diversity of this place. Here’s how we’re doing so far:

The entering class is 57.4% percent male and 42.6% percent female and includes students from a range of ethnic backgrounds:

Asian American and Pacific Islander: 24.6%
Hispanic/Latino/a: 3.5%
African American: 1%
Multiracial: 9.2%
Unknown: 5.6%

How many students receive financial aid?

Over 80 percent of students receive some form of financial aid from the College. Typically at least 30 percent of incoming freshmen receive one of HMC’s merit awards.
