HMC
The HMC Student

For those of you who love numbers, and we know you do, check out the stats on who studies at Mudd. But don’t worry; we’ll also help you read between the numbers.

We’re normal, everyday people who just happen to love science, math, and engineering (pocket protectors really aren’t our thing). We’re more likely to sport clever t-shirts that highlight our radiating wit and hop aboard longboard skateboards to get us to class in time. But in general, we’re just knowledge-hungry and naturally curious about everything (Big Wikipedia fans. Big).

The best part—we pretty much run the place, we push our professors to challenge us and together decide what kind of community we want to live in. The experience is ours and we run with it (sometimes through puddles all over campus in the middle of the night). We also make—and follow—our own rules. We call it the Honor Code. We do our homework together, most of our exams are take home, we have access to most every building on campus and when we do mess up, we’re the first ones to fess up.

And because you won’t go through this world alone, why should college be any different? Whether it’s working in the lab or conjuring up the latest and greatest prank. HMC is full of challenges and we love conquering them together. But while competition has no place in our classrooms, it fits nicely into one of our classic inner-tube water polo matches.
