HMC
Spring FAST Program (Juniors)

February 15, 2010

The Spring Future Achievers in Science and Technology (FAST) is an opportunity for high-achieving, college bound high school juniors to experience HMC.  Students who are traditionally underrepresented in math and science, including women, students of color, and those who will be among the first in their families to attend a four-year college are particularly encouraged to apply.

The program will include workshops on selective college admission and financial aid, class visits, research lab tours and demonstrations, and much more.  Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with HMC students, professors and other college-bound students from around the Southern California area who share their passion for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

The program is free for participants, including all meals.  Spring FAST Program participants will also receive a freshman application fee waiver.  Applications for the Spring FAST Program are due January 29, 2010.

HMC's commitment to fostering excellence and diversity on campus and in the wider scientific community doesn't end with this weekend program.  In addition to campus organizations like the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society for Women Engineers, and the Office of Institutional Diversity, Mudd students can take advantage of a wide variety of diversity resources sponsored in conjunction with the other Claremont Colleges.

We also support our students with extensive financial aid packages; typically, over 80% of our students receive need-based and/or merit-based financial aid.  FAST participants are particularly encouraged to apply for the President’s Scholarship Program, our most prestigious merit award.  President’s Scholars, selected for their leadership potential as well as academic achievement, receive four-year renewable full-tuition scholarships.  Click here for more information about PSP, or contact our office at (909) 621-8011 or at admission@hmc.edu.
