HMC
Awards for International Students

While international students are not eligible to receive federal financial aid and some of HMC’s need-based awards and merit-based awards, there are still a variety of opportunities for gift aid. Be sure to review your options for outside and private scholarships as well as these HMC-sponsored awards especially for international students:

Harvey S. Mudd Merit Award
When you are admitted to HMC, you will be evaluated for the Harvey S. Mudd Merit Award. International students applying for regular decision admission may take the SAT and SAT subject exams up to and including the January test date for scholarship consideration. Eligibility is determined at the time of the admission decision only. Review HMC’s Merit-Based Awards to learn more about this scholarship.

Need-Based HMC International Student Scholarship
To be considered for this need-based award, you must apply for financial aid as an international student. You must be enrolled full time (at least 12 units) to remain eligible to receive this award. The amount of the award will be dependent on your family’s financial need.

So Scholarship
Established by Yuen Sang and Yu Yuen Kit So, parents of Peter (86') and Paul (88') So, the Yuen Sang and Yu Yuen Kit So International Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to international students and non-citizens living in the United States at HMC. The Office of Admission selects one recipient for each entering class based on superior academic performance as shown in the application for admission.  The So award is offered regardless of financial need. The award is automatically renewed for the scholar’s sophomore year and continuation of the award is contingent upon maintaining a 2.75 cumulative grade point average. All international students are considered for the So Scholarship.

RIF Scholarship
HMC’s Mathematics Department sponsors a one-year, non-renewable award for up to three incoming HMC students. International students are eligible for consideration. Review HMC’s Merit-Based Awards to learn more about this scholarship.
