HMC
Fast Facts About Aid

At HMC we brag a lot about our students. About 90 percent of our incoming students ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school classes. Attracting terrific students is central to our purpose. So it’s no surprise we do everything we can to provide sufficient financial aid so that every admitted student can enroll and succeed at HMC.

It’s a pretty impressive track record. While each family is treated individually and family resources vary widely, here are some basic stats:

  • About 80 percent of HMC students receive some sort of financial aid—with awards ranging from $200 to $44,000
  • The average financial aid award is about $25,000, of which about $16,000 comes in grant aid from HMC (not from government sources)
  • About 55 percent of HMC students receive need-based aid
  • Typically, 40 percent of incoming freshmen qualify for our merit-based awards

We also look after our own. While the majority of our students receive federal and state aid, approximately 70 percent receive scholarship assistance directly from HMC.

Plus, our policy is to provide 100 percent of every student’s demonstrated need.
