Who is eligible for the program?
Almost all students in 9th-, 10th- and 11th-graders from Bassett High School (La Puente), Garey High School (Pomona), El Monte High School, Mountain View High School (El Monte) and South El Monte High School are eligible to apply to the HMC’s Upward Bound Program. We select students from low-income families and/or those who are potential first-generation college-bound students (meaning their parents did not earn a bachelor’s degree in the United States) with an academic need for the program.

How do I apply?
If you are interested in applying to the Upward Bound program, you can (1) download the student application (PDF), fill it out and turn it in to your school counselor, (2) email us at upward_bound@hmc.edu or (3) reach us by phone at (888) Upward 9.

If you or your parents have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. The Upward Bound staff speaks both English and Spanish. You can also learn more about our program by reading our brochure which is can downloaded in English and Spanish.
