Welcome!
"Clinic" is the name that Harvey Mudd College uses for the unique capstone experience in Computer Science and Engineering in which students provide work products of genuine value to external clients based on their needs. The name was chosen because it provides a transition between learning within the academy and practical experience in industry or a research laboratory.
Each Clinic project is conducted by a team of typically four students over the span of one academic year. A faculty advisor works with the team and a liaison from the sponsoring organization provides domain-specific knowledge as necessary. The results of the project become the property of the sponsor.
The concept of Clinic was invented at Harvey Mudd College in the Engineering Department in the early 1960's. Since that time, over 1000 clinic projects have been conducted at the college. Computer Science observed completion of 10 years of its clinic program in 2003.
