The Writing Center staff is available to help you during any stage of the writing process. Consultations typically last about forty minutes. You may make an appointment online,  or by stopping by during our normal hours. People with appointments have priority during busy time slots, but consultants will always do their best to accommodate walk-ins.

Please bring any information you have about the assignment and any drafting or brainstorming you have already done.

Early Stages
During the early stages we help with brainstorming, narrowing a topic, organizing your thoughts and developing your ideas.

Drafting Stages
During the drafting stages we help with strengthening and clarifying your thesis, hypothesis or research question. This is also the stage when we begin looking at overall structure and organization, identifying points that need more support and pinpointing any part of the paper that is unclear.

Editing and Polishing Stages
During the editing and polishing stages the focus is on the overall structure of the paper, with particular attention to the strength of your argument and evidence. We will also help with correcting sentence structure and identifying syntax and grammatical problems.
