Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Roman de Jesus  Organic molecules are ubiquitous in aquatic environments and affect numerous physical, chemical, and biological factors within these systems.   My research interests include a using a suite of chemical analytical tools to investigate the sources and fate of natural and anthropogenic (man-made) organic compounds in the environment. Specifically, I would like to identify sources of halogenated organic compounds and explore the relationships between their chemical structure and residence time in aquatic environments.
