HMC
Summer Research 2010

Undergraduate chemistry majors and underclassmen strongly considering a major in chemistry were invited to participate in the Summer Research program of 2010, funded by the NSF. This summer program ran for 10 weeks under the direction of Professor Adam Johnson.  We have students conducting research, learning about the chemistry profession, and honing their presentation skills. They also will participate in a variety of social activities, such as a chili cook-off, t-shirt dyeing, and a good ole game of Duopoly.  A variety of industrial tours were added last year to learn about the world outside of HMC as students were able to visit the Three Valleys Water Company, the Air Management Control District Laboratories, the Rand Corporation, and Beckman-Coulter.  Several industrial tours are scheduled this year as well.
