Barry Petersen '95 reports that his several companies keep him very busy, and his latest adventure is a trip to Taiwan where he'll take an advisor-type position for Foxconn. He spent the summer in Hawaii with Tara (girlfriend) at their new home.
Eric Toberer '02 received his Ph.D. in chemistry from UC Santa Barbara and is now finishing a post-doc at Caltech. He taught a course at HMC this fall 2008 on the Materials Science of Energy Conversion and Storage.
Hanhan Li '05 was accepted into the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University
Finishing up a research project in Uganda, Shelley McCormack '05, is heading back to the states to finish pharmacy school. During her research project, Shelley found time to visit a national park and whitewater raft on the Nile in Jinja. She hopes to return to Uganda in a couple months to conduct a pharmacokinetic study.
Kaitlyn Gray '06 was recently rewarded the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign J and M Witt Fellowship enabling her to be full time in the lab working on the synthesis and study of a structural derivative of the complex natural product amphotericin B. Kaitlyn helped develop new methodology for the synthesis of polyene natural proudcts. This work was recenlty published as a communcation in J.A.C.S. and was nicely highlighted in Chemistry's World magazine: http://www.rsc.org/chemistryworld/News/2007/December/20120701.asp
Martha Cavanaugh-O'Keefe '07 is in Tanzania for a two-year jaunt with the Peace Corps. She lived with a host family in the town of Morogoro and began to learn Swahilil, and taught at the Kayenzi secondary school. Martha then moved onto the town of Manyoni to teach at the Amani Girls School along with the nuns and monks associated with the school. Martha reports of wonderful adventures and experiences and loves life.
