Mary C. Binder Prize Selection Committee
The Mary G. Binder Prize, established in 1997 by a gift to recognize a member of the support staff "who combines a record of exceptional service with a truly helpful and friendly attitude toward students, faculty and fellow staff members all across the college," is awarded every spring. It includes $500, a certificate and the listing of the recipient's name on the Mary G. Binder Prize plaque, which is located in the foyer of Galileo Hall.
The selection committee consists of a student representative, the previous year's prize winner, four supervisors of staff (at least one being an academic department chair), and is convened by the Director of Human Resources. To help identify potential recipients, the selection committee sends an email out to the HMC community requesting nominations.
Mudd Project Implementation Team (PIT)
The Mudd PIT began in 2000 with the implementation of CX, the Enterprise Information System used by HMC and the other undergraduate Claremont Colleges. At HMC the system is used by all administrative offices, except Admissions, to track and report on institutional data. CX is also referred to as Jenzabar (the company that owns it) and CARS (the name of the system before it was purchased by Jenzabar). Mudd PIT members represent their offices in discussions of the system with regard to general issues, improvements, modifications and tracking institutional data.
Staff Outreach Committee
Established in 2007 with the support of HMC 2020 funds, the Staff Outreach Committee encourages staff to take pride in their work and help the college achieve its mission by working and supporting each other on a daily basis. The committee believes the staff can be more efficient and productive by connecting with each other as friends and co-workers, and hosts a variety of activities, including new staff lunches, ice cream socials for dining services, department and campus tours, annual all-staff lunches and information sessions. The common goal of building a community of support for the faculty and administrators who lead HMC is important to all of the members of the Staff Outreach Committee.
