Fall 2012 Course Information
There will be no course schedules printed. Up-to-date course and enrollment information can be found on the portal.

Prior to Pre-Registration:
1) Pre-Registration Clearance:
Students should contact their advisers to make appointments to discuss their schedules.  Advisers should review and approve their advisees' intended courses (including alternate courses) and sign the card. Students will take their completed, signed pre-reg card to the Office of the Registrar for web registration access clearance. Students are asked to obtain pre-reg clearance prior to their pre-reg appointment time.

2) PERMs -- for classes requiring permission:
Instructors may receive enrollment permission requests from students wanting to enroll in courses which require permission. Students request permission to enroll via a request tab on the portal. Notified by a portal generated e-mail, the instructor goes to the portal; selects the course and views permission requests. The instructor can then either:

a) grant permission if and only if there is room in the class
b) give permission even if there is no room in the class, thereby overriding course size limits
c) deny permission
d) postpone making a decision until pre-registration has been completed
e) email the student for more information

When a decision is made, an e-mail goes out to the student and the course permission table is updated. The student can later enroll in the course if permission was granted.

During Pre-Registration:
1) When the pre-reg appointment time occurs, a student with registration clearance enrolls in their courses via the student portal from a location of their choice.

2) The adviser receives nightly e-mail reports of the adding and dropping of courses by his/her advisees.

3) Instructors may receive enrollment permission requests from students wanting to enroll in courses. Unprocessed permission requests become the waitlist for a class.

4) The Registrar Office staff enrolls students in classes when there is difficulty enrolling via the portal.

Web Registration Tips:
Advisers/Instructors should be using the faculty portal to participate in web-registration.

Students should be using the student portal to participate in web registration.

All students are asked to obtain pre-registration web access clearance before their pre-reg appointment time.

Courses to be monitored by other than the course instructor should have arrangements made for the alternate person to receive the course enrollment permission requests.

Departments should review their course limits and enrollment requirements for accuracy.

Web registration instructions are available for faculty and students through the links at the top of this page. Contact the Registrar's Office (ext. 18090) if you have questions.

Plans are to provide a central location for student web registration assistance, but students will be encouraged to pre-registrar on their own at a location of their choice.

Notify the Registrar's Office or HELP desk (ext. 77777) if you are having a problem.

Permission System features include:

a) Students may submit only one permission request at a time for a course. The student cannot submit another permission request until the prior request is fully processed with a faculty decision.
b) Once an instructor gives enrollment permission for a student in a course on the portal, the instructor cannot cancel the permission via the portal.
c) Instructor permission can be changed from "okay if space" to "no restrictions", but not the reverse.
d) Permission is given by the instructor, but the student still needs to then enroll in the course.
e) To get on a wait list for a course, the student must use the permission request system on the student portal.
