Week 1: Women - celebrating every body!

Walk your way to fitness! 
Set the path to a better you.  Take our week long challenge to increase  walking, track your progress, and reap the benefits. Pick up a Walking Log from OID to participate.  All participants will receive a gift after completing the challenge. 

Tuesday, 3/3/09:  Health & Nutrition Session
Hoch Mitchell PDR 12-1pm
Come hear expert advice about balancing a busy schedule with healthy eating, coping with stress, & body image.  Pick up informative pamphlets that include Easy Brown Bag Lunches, Healthier Fast Foods, & easy ways to add exercise to your routine.  *Bring your lunch, we’ll provide a healthy  delicious
dessert!

Thursday, 3/5/09:  Love Your Body: Massage Break
Platt Green Room 1:30pm -4:30pm
Take your afternoon break with a well-deserved 10-minute massage.  Email Angelica Ibarra to schedule a complimentary session.  Limited spaces available.  Learn breathing & muscle relaxation techniques.

The Office of Institutional Diversity would like to highlight the achievements of women in science at Mudd. Visit the Platt Campus Living Room for a poster show that features each faculty member, her Research Interests, & her Words of Wisdom.
Posters will be on display in the Platt Living Room for the month of March.

Mentoring Women in Science by Professor Talithia Williams

The success of women in science, mathematics, and engineering has been closely linked to the amount of mentoring that they receive throughout their academic studies.  This talk will address mentoring from the perspective of various programs that have proven effective in mitigating the underrepresentation of women in science. We will conclude with an open dialogue to discuss ways that individuals can aid in strengthening the ability of students to successfully complete graduate programs in the mathematical sciences.
