HMC
Presentation Days 2005

In 2005, 256 students—including more than 100 students in each of the majors who gave research talks—participated in Presentation Days. Students in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences displayed their black and white photographs, while students in an Integrative Experience course, co-taught by a computer scientist and an anthropologist, explored gender and computer games. The results of the Introduction to Engineering Design projects, which involved 21 teams of first-year and sophomore students, were also presented.

The keynote speaker for the event was James Erickson, HMC alumnus from the Class of 1975 who serves as project manager for the Mars Exploration Rover Project at JPL/NASA. Mr. Erickson gave an overview of the Mars Exploration Rover Project, its challenges and some of the science results from this astonishing mission.

The 2005 Presentation Days Committee consisted of Sally Rich Arroyo, David Asai, Robert Cave, Marianne de Laet, Lisette de Pillis, Eric Ditwiler, Ryan Gage, Elizabeth Orwin ’95, Christopher Stone, and was chaired by Ann Esin.
