Presentation Days 2004

In 2004, 298 students—including more than 140 from each major who gave research talks—participated in Presentation Days 2004. Students in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences displayed their black and white photographs and screened computer animations set to music, while students in an Integrative Experience course co-taught by a mathematician and a musician explored the harmony between mathematics and music. The results of the Introduction to Engineering Design projects, which involved 21 teams of first year and sophomore students, were also presented.

The keynote speaker for Presentation Days 2004 was Tyrone B. Hayes from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Hayes spoke on “Common Groundsel, Hermaphroditic Frogs and Premature Babies: Today’s Solution, Tomorrow’s Problem.”

The 2004 Presentation Days Committee consisted of Sally Rich Arroyo, Alfonso Castro, Marianne de Laet, Eric Ditwiler, Ann Esin, Adam Johnson, Elizabeth Orwin ’95 and Christopher Stone, and was chaired by Catherine McFadden.
