Presentation Days 2001

In 2001, more than 230 students—including more than 85 from each major who gave research talks—participated in Presentation Days. There are over 85 research talks from students in each of the majors. Students in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences are examining the role of the book in Western Culture, presenting studies and research reports on issues in education, displaying their black and white photographs, and performing new musical compositions and improvisational comedy. The results of the Introduction to Engineering Design projects, involving 17 teams of freshman and sophomore students will be presented.

The keynote speaker for Presentation Days is Steven M. Potter, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow, Division of Biology, California Institute of Technology. Dr. Potter will speak on "Connecting neurons to computers: What it is like to be an interdisciplinary brain scientist at the cutting edge," Monday, April 23, at 4:00 p.m. in Galileo Hall.

The Presentation Days Committee consisted of William Alves, Sally Rich Arroyo, Chih-Yung Chen, Eric Ditwiler, Adam Johnson, Geoff Kuenning and Ruye Wang, and was co-chaired by Andrew Bernoff and Catherine McFadden.
