I. High volume, Office printers.
For each administrative office and depending on their need, CIS will provide and support a networked printer. In consultation with the office, this printer will be sized to meet the office's printing needs and will be placed in a location of the office's choice to allow its members ready access. For larger offices, a second networked printer may be requested. The currently supported networked printers can be found below and will be available on the web. For Office printers, CIS
- will provide standard paper,
- will provide replacement toner cartridges,
- will install the printer and printer driver software,
- will perform or arrange for preventative and regular maintenance,
- will troubleshoot problems.
Note that a color printer is an option if the Office agrees to fund all the incremental costs of color (including additional initial cost, maintenence and consumables).
II. Low volume, Personal printers.
CIS does not purchase personal printers and provides only limited support for them. CIS's recommended personal printer can be found below and will be available on the web. If an administrative office purchases one of these printers, then CIS
- will provide standard paper,
- will stock an emergency replacement cartridge for the printer,
- and will assist with initial installation.
Note that except for paper, the Office must fund the cost of all consumables and maintenance.
If the printer is purchased with a service agreement, then CIS will troubleshoot problems for up to a half hour before contacting the service provider. If a service agreement is not purchased, then the department is responsible for all troubleshooting. A member of the office must be designated as the Office IT Support Consultant who will be given necessary privileges to troubleshoot any problems. The Office is responsible for arranging training for their Office IT Support Consultant.
If a non-recommended printer is purchased, then CIS's support will consist only of providing standard paper. A member of the office must be designated as the Office IT Support Consultant who will be given necessary privileges to troubleshoot problems and provide support.
Supported "Office" printers:
Listed below are the currently supported network printers. This list will change from time to time as newer printers become available and are evaluated.
Recommended "Personal" printers:
Please note that CIS does not recommend or decide who needs a personal printer. That is a decision for the individual Office to make. Listed below are the currently recommended printers. This list will change from time to time. Previously recommended printers will continue to be supported for up to three years from time of initial purchase.
