HMC
Licensing Server: KeyAccess

Keyserver

For most of the commercial software that CIS purchases, we purchase individual licenses. The number of licenses that we purchase is based on estimated usage requirements. While the software is installed on all of the CIS lab computers and is available for download and installation from our Windows 2003 file servers, each application is "keyed" and usage is monitored by the Keyserver to limit use of the applications to the number of licenses that we actually own. In order to run the software on a non-lab computer the user must install the KeyAccess software and be connected to the HMC network. Instructions for installing and configuring KeyAccess are included as part of our networking documentation.

Keyed installers for many of our commercial software for Windows can be found on Charlie, the academic Windows 2003 file server, in the following locations:

  • Windows software: Charlie.Dist-Software/
  • Mac OS X software: Charlie.Mac/OS X Applications/
Unfortunately, we are unable to accomodate student use of keyed applications in the dorms.  Please use the Parsons pc, mac, or miscellaneous labs.  Alternatively, the pc lab in the Linde Activity Center also provides keyed applications.
