HMC will offer Math 61, 62, 63 and 64 during the summer. Copies of the math registration form showing dates and fees are available online. Registration forms are due to the Registrar’s Office by April 18, with payment or financial arrangement completed by April 25.
It is occasionally possible to take other HMC courses in the summer, but only HMC courses listed in the college catalogue may be taken. If a student wishes to take a regular HMC course during the summer, the following steps must be taken:
1. Consult with the faculty member and the department chairman regarding a course you may wish to take. Time and schedule will be by mutual agreement between the student and the faculty member.
2. The fee will be $1,083.41 per unit $3,250.22 for a three unit course, to be paid to Student Accounts at the time of registration. Students must register with the Registrar’s Office on a Course Add/Drop form (PDF) signed by the instructor, the related department chairman and your related advisor by June 9. The start and end dates for the course must be indicated on the registration form. Final grades must be submitted by August 21.
Courses may be dropped through August 1 by submitting a Course Add/Drop form (PDF) to the Registrar’s Office. If the course is dropped, fees are returned on a prorated basis (10 percent each business day starting with the first day of class). No refunds will be granted after the 9th business day after the first day of class.
3. A student may not obtain credit for summer work unless registration and fees have been taken care of as outlined above. Students may not receive both remuneration and academic credit for summer work.
For Summer School Courses Off Campus
For Technical courses, you must obtain a Transfer Course Approval form (PDF) from the Registrar's Office and have it approved by the related department Chair. For humanities courses, see your humanities advisor for an approval form. In both cases, return the form to the Registrar's Office before you leave for the summer. To receive credit, you must also request an official transcript to be sent to the Registrar's Office upon completion of the course.
Summer School Grades
Grades for summer courses taken away from Claremont are not computed into the GPA. Only grades of C or better are transferable; however, most departments require a B or better.
