Information about the position: Salary is dependent upon qualifications with a minimum $5,166.67 per month. Usual working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Hours may vary due to the needs of campus constituencies. Some flexibility may be arranged with supervisor approval. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible, exempt position reporting to the Director of Data Services and Programming.
What the successful candidate will do: The Web Programmer/Analyst is responsible for the development, integration, and level 3 support of web-based instructional, assessment and administrative applications and enhancing and maintaining current applications such as Jenzabar JICS portal and the Sakai Learning Management System. Work is performed in a team environment with HMC Computing and Information Services (CIS) and other Claremont Colleges Information Technology staff.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, implement, and maintain secure Web-based interfaces to the existing administrative and student information system (Jenzabar CX) for use by faculty, students, staff, and alumni.
- Create, manage and enhance Jenzabar JICS custom applications (portlets).
- Administer the Jenzabar JICS portal.
- Work with internal clients and other team members to create, develop, implement and maintain user-centric, and customizable web resources.
- Analyze needs, design, write, test and document new programs and applications.
- Work with administrative offices to select, implement and maintain secure e-commerce applications as needed.
- Recommend the redesign of programs, investigate and analyze the feasibility of program requirements and develop programming specifications.
- Provide technical support for the development and maintenance of the College's web services.
- Effectively and constructively participate in team-oriented design discussions, code reviews, and regular team meetings.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in software development methods and technology.
- Provide training and documentation as required.
- Other related duties as requested, delegated or assigned.
What the ideal candidate will bring to this position and HMC:
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in computer science, engineering or related field and two years experience in development, production and maintenance of a dynamic, complex, multi-user Web site preferably as part of a development team in a higher education setting; or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.
- Experience administering Windows or Unix servers.
Knowledge of:
- Web programming and tools (e.g. C#, ASP, .NET, Java, Javascript, CSS, Perl, PHP)
- SQL Server 2000/2005
- HTML, DHTML, XML
- Application analysis, design and programming
- Testing techniques and revision control
Abilities:
