Information about the position:  This is a temporary, full-time, benefits eligible, non-exempt position (approximately 10 months dependent upon college need and performance.) This position reports to the Operations Supervisor. Usual working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary including working varied flexible hours, evenings and weekends due to the needs of the College. Overtime may be required. Salary is dependent upon qualifications with a minimum of $16.75 per hour.

What the successful candidate will do:  The Technical Support Assistant is responsible for administrative and technical support for all Admission's software, data collection, and website maintenance.  This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of data in the current data system, and providing information and assistance to other office staff members regarding use of the system and other technical activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Collects and assists with analyzing data on student recruitment, admissions, and entering student characteristics in support of decision-making and policy development regarding the areas of admissions and recruitment of students.
  • Maintains and improves the use of Admission's current data system, assists others in effectively using the system, troubleshoots and contacts appropriate personnel to resolve technical problems.
  • Facilitates electronic communication with various internal and external constituencies.
  • Collects data from internal and external sources that affect recruitment and admission.
  • Maintains the integrity of data in the student record system, monitors for duplicate records, and follows procedures to resolve data inaccuracies.
  • Ensures that data is backed up properly.
  • Coordinates and performs a variety of office technical support functions, such as, but not limited to data entry, executing reports and resolving data issues.
  • May perform office back up duties such as answering phones, filing, preparing large mailings, and preparing for on- and off-campus events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus additional technical and related coursework; or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, students, parents, and colleagues in other campus departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office programs effectively (especially Access and Excel), and to learn to successfully apply new software and programs.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to collect data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to details.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
